I do have a story behind this painting, but instead of words, I leave you with this picture alone. I wonder what your interpretations would be :)

Original size: 6000x9000px; done from scratch in Photoshop with some aid from Painter. This piece was a challenge, mainly to get the technique and mood work together. It took me a LOT of time, especially to get all those little details right.

Here's a link to some closeups: [link]

Reminds me of Miss Havisham from Great Expectations.  Very haunting.

Took me ages trying to find this again. The image has stuck with me for a long time. And right now, it's rather personal to me, which is why I remembered it. So I'm going to favourite it.

the wall-paint pealed back revealing the cracks riddled threw the wall. The bride lay as if dead her cold hand clutching a decaying letter. to her left is a pile of more letters, and a candle stump that burned until the wick was completely gone. to her left a cage. Every thing from the bride to the wall is covered in cobwebs. years have passed and she hasn't moved. she died when she read the letter telling her the death of her husband, her death day was to be her wedding day she died from the lose of  her love, but her body stays untouched waiting forever for her lost love.

I think she let the bird (love) free "if you love something you set it free, if it loves you it will come back"

- Her bird (love) never came back but she waits regardless...hence the webs.

I'd guess the story with this is that love is being portrayed as a cage of time. The woman (girl?) appears to represent youth (white dress, young face, etc.) with her expression/pose indicating waiting/longing. The letters she holds would be from someone, presumably a lover, that she is seperated from. The birdcage also symbolize isolation, and the cobwebs and aged background are signs of the passage of time. She is waiting in seclusion for her lover to return so that they can be together. At least, that's what I got out of this. :)
