Ah, it's been a long while, hasn't it :) I have a new cast for my right wrist which allows me to paint, so here is the next from the Sins :)

GLUTTONY is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

Why didn't I draw anything disgusting? Well, I wanted to prove myself I can keep to the original "idea" of a glutton, WHILE making the character aesthetic, pretty and (in her way) attractive. I wanted to prove the modern "pretty=thin to the bone" standard wrong. ;)

Some symbolic explanations:
Abundance of textiles - I treat this sin not only as eating and drinking, but consuming in it's wider meaning, such as buying and gathering useless things etc
Grapes - "luxury" goods, connected with lavish parties (in ancient times) etc
The pink colour theme - reminds me of grapes, sweets etc :)

I hope you like this one, as it was definitely the hardest one to balance and get "right".

You are an amazing artist and have immense talent, but I just wonder why you chose to depict gluttony as a woman who looks average weight or even slightly thin. I could understand if you posted a woman who is thin because that would be sending the message that even thin people can be "gluttons." I also sort of understand if you depicted a significantly overweight woman because at least that would be an actual person who is heavy. But I feel as though by contrasting her healthy weight with the others tells people that if you're this body weight, that means you're fat. I'm not saying that other sins are underweight or unhealthy, just that you may be portraying the average woman as too heavy to be healthy.

Otherwise, I love your work, and I hope you continue making beautiful art.

I love how you put this picture together. I found it interesting when you explained why you made her attractive. I personally figured that you did that to symbolize how tempting these sins can be. If you did make her ugly, the sin wouldn't seem as intriguing. I also like how you made the point that 'thin' doesn't necessarily mean pretty. beautiful piece, and i love the rest of the series!!

I identify with the Sin of Gluttony quite often, so I do particularly favor this deviation. Great like the others.

I agree with you on the idea that you have to be skin and bone to be pretty. That is wrong. My mom's not skinny but she is ery beautiful.

I think you did a wonderful job balancing this one and I appreciate your view to the "beauty = stick figure" debate. If girls were meant to be that thin, then they wouldn't have curves to begin with!
