Ah, it's been a long while, hasn't it I have a new cast for my right wrist which allows me to paint, so here is the next from the Sins
GLUTTONY is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.
Why didn't I draw anything disgusting? Well, I wanted to prove myself I can keep to the original "idea" of a glutton, WHILE making the character aesthetic, pretty and (in her way) attractive. I wanted to prove the modern "pretty=thin to the bone" standard wrong.
Some symbolic explanations:
Abundance of textiles - I treat this sin not only as eating and drinking, but consuming in it's wider meaning, such as buying and gathering useless things etc
Grapes - "luxury" goods, connected with lavish parties (in ancient times) etc
The pink colour theme - reminds me of grapes, sweets etc
I hope you like this one, as it was definitely the hardest one to balance and get "right".
Well, that's not the idea it's supposed to be conveyed. Epicurism isn't a "sin" because it's more in the quality that the quantity, and gluttony refers to a waste of ressources and a terrible lack of tastes.
Now being the big man I am, I can see WHY I would love this picture...MORE is always been a thing for me...I always have to have the biggest and most of everything...Love the plus sized model and the rose pink dress...Kind of reminds me of Ms. Piggy if she were a human being instead of a puppet...How is it that you can make Gluttony so DAMN sexy?...Love the grapes spilling everywhere too...Beautiful...Just Beautiful!
For once I would like to see the alleged "sins" of the christian bible portrayed in a way that does not epitomize them. Beautiful women practicing arts of self deceit and eroticism have nearly no meaning on such topics. The "alleged" sins may themselves be alluring, but often times their practitioners are a far cry from such. I myself find this piece lacking in realism. If only every gluttonous wench were so well endowed. Likewise for the opposite sex. Very few look upon a man with a belly that sticks out so far he can't see his toes and find it attractive. My apologies to any this may offend. I merely speak my opinion, as all are wont and welcome to.
So glad you didn't make her "disgusting" because the other 6 "sin's" you captured the beauty of "WOMAN" and they were ALL individually and differently beautiful from each other...as it should be! Great job!
